A whole generation of scientists have been brought up following Carl Sagan’s materialistic model of the universe. This has recently been made very clear by the incredible television coverage that has been given to the astrophysicist Professor Brian Cox. On one of his programmes he even held up his copy of ‘Cosmos’.

The theme of Carl Sagan’s thirteen-part television series is that if only we had been following the great Greek scientists and not the religious fanatics who plunged the known world into the Dark Ages, we would have got to the moon in the tenth century. I am 100% with him on this. However, Sagan puts the blame for this disaster squarely on the shoulders of Pythagoras, Socrates, and Plato. He looks at the camera and almost spits it out, “They were mystics!” In other words they were on our side, starting from the correct scientific base that we all possess a soul that separates from the dead physical body.
